Last of the phone booths
The Lincoln City Council voted unanimously for the removal of the historic telephone booth atop City Hall this week. STORY HERE
Larry Schroyer, who was in charge of civil defense, arranged for it to be put there so that storm spotters could make calls as needed. … Several parties have expressed interest in preserving the booth at another location. It … will soon be moved to an undetermined place where it will be kept for posterity.
Also, The Mill was auctioned off for $1,500. And the new owners plan to demolish it. Of course it’s gone to hell and they probably should. STORY HERE
But … it’s sad to see both of these quasi-landmarks go.
