Cressed fingers

A portrait of Prince Philip, husband of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II, was unveiled in London late last month. He has a bluebottle fly resting on his shoulder and cress growing from his fingertip. Acclaimed artist Stuart Pearson Wright said he wanted to remind the viewer of the 82-year-old Prince’s mortality by featuring the metallic-blue fly, which breeds on decaying organic matter.
