Movie fraction

We went over to my friend/co-worker’s apartment last night. He had surgery Monday morning and wasn’t feeling too hot and wasn’t able to move too much. So, Julie made fajitas and we took them over there. We started watching “The Pianist” on an XBox, but the DVD crapped out on us about one-third of the way in. For fun, he’s going to put up a site documenting his surgery once he feels mobile enough. I’ll probably put a link to it. He showed us some of the photos and video he has so far.

This bike is great. LINK HERE Too bad they will be everywhere via Wal-Mart and Toys R Us starting in April 2004. Probably not big enough for me, either. While I’m being picky, I’d have made the front fork longer and the front wheel a little bit smaller.

No spots

I added “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” to the MOVIE LIST. We saw the matinee today. Very good. That Charlie Kaufman is something else. I need to see “Human Nature,” his only movie I haven’t seen yet.

I just read that Christopher Ecclestone will be the new Dr Who. LINK HERE My dad and I used to watch Dr. Who together during the Tom Baker, Peter Davison and Colin Baker years. I haven’t seen it for quite a few years. The show used to be on PBS, but I’m guessing it is on BBC America these days.

I don’t know why, but I find live action versions of anime movies — like CUTIE HONEY — much more odd than live action versions of American animated shows.

For crying out loud

Saw “In America” last night at the UIS film series — I’ll be adding it to MY LIST. It was very good. I could hear a lot of people crying at the end. I, on the other hand, was crying silently — just a wee bit.

I got to go on a super-secret Ferris wheel ride yesterday. I shan’t say much about it, except that it is about 55 feet tall and inside this little room, basically just big enough for it to fit inside. So, when you ride it, you get pretty close to the walls, which made it feel like it was going faster than it really was. I’ll post a picture when I get a chance. I have a little video, too. Maybe I’ll put that on here when I get a chance, as well. FERRIS WHEEL VIDEO AVI I think you have to download it to watch it.

I helped my mom get Zipper’s profile up on DOGSTER the other night when we went to pick up the dogs.

I dumped Blogrolling from our page. It was causing a pretty major lag when the site loads. I kept most of the blogs in there, but they are hard coded in the HTML now. Update: Yep, that makes the site load faster and more consistently.

Tried the Yeo’s Sugar Cane Drink tonight. Not so good. Fresh is probably much better.

Second episode of “Wonder Falls” surprised me a little in that it didn’t follow the pattern set up in the first episode as strictly as I imagined it might. Good work, writers. Now keep it up.

Concert in Lakeland

Jantina and I just got home from a concert over in Lakeland and it was great! The concert featured The Newsboys (my current favorite), Jeremy Camp, and Rebecca St. James. Well tired now, time for bed.

Starsky & Hutch

I saw “Starsky & Hutch” last night. I can’t say that I recommend it. I think that if I were a fan of the original TV show, maybe there would have been more “inside jokes”. Maybe something along the lines of, “OH, I remember the mime episode! That was so funny, I’m glad they put that in there!”. But, for me, I had none of that.

Hummus a happy tune

I fell in a vat of hummus. I yelled “fire” when I fell into the hummus. Nobody would help me if I yelled “HUMMUS!!!”

Sorry. That is a take-off on an old SMOTHERS BROTHERS bit. Tonight, though, I fought with the blender for a little while. In the end I did have a big vat of hummus. Rock. Now I need a pita, which I have made before, but this time I’m just going to buy some.
