Fired up

Get Firefox

Yeah, I’m using Firefox at home now. At work I just switched to Mozilla 1.2.1 — the last Mozilla-based browser available for Mac OS 9.

Potato-chip baby

A woman I know was telling me about a dream she had a few nights ago.

In the dream she was on a buoy and had a baby (though in reality she is opposed to having children). Next thing she knows she turned the baby into a bag of potato chips. Before she realized that the bag of chips was her baby, she couldn’t help but chow down. Then she realized what happened, she was horrified and immediately stoped eating the chips.

Next she found herself in a theater, watching a play from the 30th row — though there seemed to be a second play or scene being performed right in front of the 30th row in addition to what was going on on the stage. Then a guy brought the woman her baby back.

THEN, she tells me, “everything got crazy.” People started dancing around and the baby was in her purse and the dancing people stepped on the baby. Most of the people left the theater and the building caught on fire. Two other woman and the original woman had babies that needed to be rescued from the burning building. An angel showed up and brought them up a ladder to the roof and then they were back on the ground. All the babies were on oxygen and the woman, for some unknown reason, was in charge of all three babies. And everything was OK. She thinks that’s pretty much when she woke up.

She says she has dreams somewhat like this all the time. I’m going to have to get this woman her own blog.

Do-not-spam sham

This says there’s a site purporting to be a National Do-Not-Spam Registry made up to look like the Do-Not-Call site (at http://www.unsub.us), but it is a scam and will likely get you MORE spam. Those bastages!

‘Thing’ redux

If you have heard The Darkness’ single, go here and listen to “A Thing Called Love” by Edson. He’s Swedish.

Side note: Today it was warm enough outside that I could take the dogs out without wearing a coat. We’re going to try playing Utimate outside on Sunday, too.

Offended offenders

This story is interesting. The Muncie, Ind., paper — along with a story about a sex-offender registry Web site — published mug shots and addresses of sex offenders and a bunch of the people lost their jobs and/or relationships. Here is a story about the reaction to the story. And here is the registry site itself.

I’m not sure what sex offenders are supposed to do and how they’re supposed to live their lives once they’ve done their time, but people should be able to see this kind of information. It is a similar problem for all ex-cons, but sex offenders must have it the worst. Are they supposed to form their own sex offender towns or something?

‘I feel great’

This commercial or try here is pretty darn funny. I’m not sure what the story behind it is. I suspect it isn’t real. Perhaps someone made it just for their portfolio? Or was it regional and it just didn’t air in my area? Someone give me the inside scoop.

Back in the day

Ever watch Computer Chronicles — the show on PBS? You can find an archive of the episodes online! Check out the latest Apple IIe! Woo!

Just eat it (Eat it) Huh!

My parents brought Julie and I some candy back from Vietnam. I can’t read Vietnamese, so I don’t know exactly what it is, but it’s good. Here’s what it says: Xoai Cay — Dac Biet Thom Ngon (there’s a bunch of accents which probably make a big difference in the meaning). I think it is some kind of dried fruit encrusted with sugar and sprinkled with some hot chili powder stuff. Yum. I’ve been chowing down on it tonight.

An age-old story…

… the vampire puppet man and the werewolf woman find themselves attracted to each other — tonight on “Angel.” Yes, Angel was turned into a puppet in a little magical accident. It was a fairly silly, but they played it straight most of the time. It’s funny how about anything can happen when magic is involved.

The creator of “The Tick,” Ben Edlund, has been writing and directing quite a bit for “Angel” and I like his humor. Yes, I do believe “Angel” will be missed (by me).

Damn ratings

E! and CNN both report that “Angel” has been cancelled. That royally stinks. Joss is hoping to make some TV movies or shop the show around to other networks, but that doesn’t seem very likely to me.
